Henry L. Peters
1912 - 2006
Henry
L. Peters, 94, of Watertown, died August 11, 2006, at Marquardt Memorial Manor
where he had made his home for the past seven years.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Memorial
Manor in Watertown with the Rev. Bernard Rott of St.
Henry’s Catholic Church officiating. A committal service for the family will be
held at a later date.
Buried in St. Henry’s
Cemetery.
Memorials
may be given to St. Henry’s, Marquardt Memorial Manor, Marquardt Hospice Inc.
or the Alzheimers Association.

He
was born May 22, 1912, in Milwaukee, the son of Leonard and Mary (Baranowski)
Peters. He married Alice Gniotczynski on Sept. 26,
1936, at St. Cyril and Methodious Church in Milwaukee.
Henry
had been employed in Milwaukee at the Mid State Shoe Co. and his job brought
him to Watertown where he continued to work at the Mid State Shoe Co. for 37
years. He was also employed at the former St. Mary's Hospital in Watertown.
After retirement, he worked at Watertown Table Slide and Lindberg Hevi-Duty in Watertown. He had also been a barber for Herb
Kohli's; Barber Shop in Watertown.
Henry
was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown and was an honorary
member of the Watertown Turner's Association. He enjoyed dancing, fishing and
playing cards. He loved polka music and enjoyed playing the harmonica.
The
family of Henry Peters wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff
of Marquardt Memorial Manor for their loving care and kindness given to Henry
over the years.
Survivors
include his wife, Alice Peters of Watertown; two daughters, Joyce Peters (Jim Abplanalp) Murtaugh of Watertown
and Judith (Allen) Bergmann of Dover, Ohio; one son, Alan (Sharon) Peters of
Watertown; he was blessed with six grandchildren, Heather and Jill Murtaugh and Glenn Peters, all of Watertown, Dawn (David)
Donnelly of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Scott (Amy) Bergmann of Westminister, Md., and Candice (Mark) Schatz of Whitecourt,
Alberta, Canada; four great-grandchildren, Brenden, Liam, and Ronan Donnelly
of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Ella
Bergmann of Westminister, Md.; other relatives and
friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Arthur and Ray, a brother,
Edwin and a sister, Alice Wojick.
Alice T. Peters
1915 - 2014
Alice T. Peters, 99, of Watertown,
passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Marquardt Health Center in
Watertown. Alice and her husband, Henry,
were one of the first residents at Mueller Apartments in Watertown, making
their home there for 34 years. A Mass of
Christian burial for Alice will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry
Catholic Church in Watertown, with Father Patrick Wendler, celebrant. A family burial will be in St. Henry Catholic
Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and
friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Friday from 10 a.m.
until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to
St. Henry Catholic Church or to Marquardt Health Center.
Alice Theresa Gniotczynski was born on March 1, 1915,
in Milwaukee, the daughter of Joseph and Benigna (Wojciech) Gniotczynski. She
married Henry L. Peters on Sept. 26, 1936, at St. Cyril and Methodious Catholic
Church in Milwaukee. Henry preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2006.
Alice was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She was a stay-at-home mom who
enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, dancing, listening to old time music and
watching game shows on TV. For many
years, Alice volunteered at the Turner Hall in Watertown.
Alice is survived by three loving children, daughters, Joyce Peters (Jim Abplanalp) Murtaugh, Judith
(Allen) Bergmann and a son, Alan (Sharon) Peters, all of Watertown. She was
blessed with six grandchildren, Dawn (David) Donnelly of Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada; Scott (Amy) Bergmann of Westminster, Md.; Heather Murtaugh
of Oconomowoc; Glenn Peters of Watertown; Candace (Mark) Schatz of Whitecourt,
Alberta, Canada and Jill Murtaugh of San Antonio,
Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Brendan, Liam and Ronan Donnelly, Devin and
Kyle Schatz, and Ella and Serena Bergmann. Alice is also survived by one
sister, Sylvia Zygowski of West Allis, nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Tomczyk and Eleanor Lewandowski.
The family would like to express its sincere thank you to the entire staff at
Marquardt Health Center for their loving and compassionate care.
